How To Bid
|
|
Placing a Bid
If you would like to place a bid, you can do so quickly and easily by following these steps: (1) Log in to your account. If you have not registered, you can do so by clicking the "Register" link at the top of the page. (2) Go to the auction page where the desired item appears. (3) Near the bottom of the auction description page you will see a "Bidding Box." You can use the shortcut link to the bidding box (located just left of the auction details block) if you wish. (4) Enter your bid. Note: your bid cannot be lower than the required minimum bid. (5) Click the "Place Bid" button. (6) You will then be asked to confirm your bid. Once you have done so, your bid will be entered. If the process is successfully completed, you will receive a confirmation message. If your bid fails to outbid the current high bidder, you will be offered the option to place a higher bid. Special Note: Bids against other people are not shown in the auction bids, if the reserve has not yet been met. If you have a Proxy (reserve) bid you are willing to pay and you have bid a lower price with a Proxy and someone bids against you, your Proxy bid may be met and no other bids will be shown against you, unless the reserve price of the item was met. You will then see their bids and your Proxy bidding amounts.
Proxy Bidding Proxy bidding can aid your chances of winning an auction and help avoid being outbid at the last moment. To place a proxy bid, enter the maximum price you are willing to pay for the item. If another user places a bid on the same auction, automatic bids will be placed on your behalf in accordance with your maximum bid amount. With proxy bidding you will pay the lowest possible price until someone else places a higher bid.
Buy It Now
Another way of bidding is "Buy It Now" auctions. Buy It Now prices are set by the seller. If you agree with this price, you can click the "Buy Now" button displayed on the auction details page. You will then be redirected to a confirmation page. The auction will end instantly as the item has been sold via Buy It Now.

Additional images, up to 5, can be included for a fee of $0.05 per image. Images are added by clicking the "Browse" button and finding the image on your computer, then just double click on your picture. The auction will put your picture in your ad & take care of resizing the images for you, so don't worry about that! On the Auction Settings tab, you can choose the type of auction, the start price, whether to activate Buy Now or set a reserve price. Also, you will be able to choose what type of bid increment to use--the progressive one implemented into the site or a custom one. If you choose the custom bid increment, you must enter an increment value. You will also be able to choose whether to feature the item and the duration of the auction. After setting the location, shipping and payment, click the "Next Step" button.
(3) In Step Three, you can review the auction before submitting. If everything is in order, you click the "Submit" button. You will be redirected to the Payment Page or a Confirmation Page (if no fees have to be paid). The auction is activated once the payment is confirmed by the payment gateway or instantly, if no fees need to be paid.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to have an automatic PAYPAL link for instant payment by the buyer at the end of an auction, you must go into 'Members' on your home page, then click on 'Selling' and below that is the 'Automatic Prefilled Page'. This page allows you to check the normal boxes you would like for every auction and in that page, it allows you to check the 'Auto Paypal' acceptance and you fill in your payment address for payment. You then must drop down to the bottom and fill in your Paypal payment address and click on to enable it. Everytime you are listing a new auction, you will see a Paypal check box....You must check that box everytime for each item you are listing. This will put up an automatic link to Paypal on the end of each of your auctions that allows the buyer to send you money to your Paypal account.
IMPORTANT NOTE: At the end of each auction, Emails are automatically generated by the auction to the seller and buyer, with all the details of the purchase. The contact phone number, address and total amount due the seller. The buyer can Email any questions right from that Email, should they need to.
Relisting Policy The International Magic Auction has established a policy for listing. After the inital listing of an item, that item can be relisted as many times as you wish.
